david gauntletts theory looks at how the media has changed due to its control over the viewers. in the past peoples everyday schedule revolved around the only or main media source which was broadcast at certain times of the day. where all people would come together. now due to new technologies and web 2.0 the big media companies don't control people as much as they did new with sites like yotube and on demand on the internet, shows can be watched at any time. there is much more freedom and the schedule is no more.

Media in the online age

For this part of the course, which is 25% of our overall mark, we will be studying the topic media in the online age.looking at two types of media being film and social networking.
from what i understand about media in the online age so far is that now due to new technologies like web 2.0 consumers can now become contributors. before these new technologies the consumers had no control over the way in which they consumed it. now there is a death of the schedule as there are many ways in which the TV can be watched and when with the likes of sky plus and on demand. also the consumers can be the producer via sites like youtube.
